In an effort to disengage from Capitalism as much as is possible (which isn't super a lot, unfortunately), I am hoping to make it easier for readers to barter with me for books, instead of paying in your hard-earned dollars. Save that bullshit for your landlord or mortgage company.
Here's how this works:
Below, I have listed some things and services that I can use. This is by no means an exhaustive list of all of the things and services that I can use, so if there is something else you have or do that you'd like to offer, by all means, do so! I will not guarantee that I will accept that offer, but I will certainly consider it.
Once you've figured out what you can offer, fill out the form at the bottom of the page. I will read your offer and send you a response in which I will accept, decline, or counter-offer. From there, we can figure out things like scheduling (for services), shipping (if applicable), and other logistics. The form doesn't have an option to attach pics, so if it's something where that's relevant, I'll ask for the pics in the follow-up email.
Please remember when making your offer that barters should be mutually beneficial. Please don't offer anything that is lopsided, worth *significantly* more or less than the book(s) you'd like. Please either take shipping into account (if applicable) in that worth or be prepared to pay for shipping. Unfortunately, the US Post Office does not accept barter.
THE LIST:
SPECIFIC THINGS I NEED RIGHT NOW (updated 5/11/2025):
*Over-ear headphones with Bluetooth capabilities
GENERAL THINGS I AM ALWAYS LOOKING FOR:
*Other books: These can be books you've written or books you own. Keep in mind that if you're looking for print books, mine will be coming to you brand new, so if you're looking to trade used books, I will want to take condition into consideration.
*Virtual assistant services: I can often use assistance with administrative tasks in my author business, and would gladly trade 1 paperback book or 4 ebooks for 1 hour of help
*Travel stuff: I would be delighted if you want to use points to book me plane, train, or boat tickets, hotel rooms, rental cars, etc.
*Pet sitting: If you're local (mid-Willamette Valley, Oregon, USA), I would love to discuss you taking care of my dog when I travel or when I have a long day of something I can't take her along for.
*A place to crash: Maybe I'm planning to travel to where you live or maybe I would travel there if I had a place to stay! If you have a guest room, let's chat.
*Food: If you're near me (mid-Willamette Valley, Oregon, USA), I will accept home-cooked food, garden-fresh fruits and veggies, etc. If you're not nearby, I will still accept packaged foods that ship well. No meat or fish, please! I am a vegetarian. And I will not accept perishable foods that need to be shipped.
*Vinyl records: I have pretty eclectic tastes in music, so if you have records, either of your own music or music someone else made, I am probably interested.
*Art: I'm mostly interested in art you've made, but hit me up if you have some art of someone else's that you'd like to trade for too
*Clothing: I wear a woman's size 8. Sometimes I can wear a 6. I'm sure we all know that women's sizes are far from standardized. Some things I'm a small and some I'm a medium. I cannot wear crew-neck shirts, as I have sensory issues with things up against my neck. I have pretty eclectic tastes in clothing, so send me pics, and I will let you know if it's something I'd wear.
*Shoes/boots: I wear a women's size 7.5 or 8. Send me a pic and I'll let you know if it's something I'd wear.
*Accessories/costume jewelry: I like interesting hats, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, scarves, headbands, hairclips, etc. Send me a pic, and I'll let you know if it's something I'd wear. Bonus points if you made it!
*Anything else you have, do, or make! Again, I can't promise I'll go for it, but please don't hesitate to offer
